Selling your home during a pandemic

Whether it’s because you want to or have to, selling your home is a lot of work. Selling your house during a pandemic is an even bigger challenge. There are so many things that have been done, or are being done currently to make this process safer and easier for both buyers and sellers.

Sellers need to start by decluttering their home to make it look and feel larger to buyers. You don’t want people to skip over your listing because the dining room looks like a laundry room, or that your living room looks like a movie theater because you have too much furniture.

Declutter: Clean out your closets, get rid of bulky items and start packing things away. It will not only make your home appear bigger, but it will give you a head start on the packing process.

A thorough deep cleaning is not only necessary but appreciated as it makes your home look and smell fresh. And even more so now, extra cleaning measures will make buyers more comfortable touring your home when they step inside.

Clean, clean, clean: Clean those spaces that you ignore on a daily basis. Closets, baseboards, ceiling fans, light switches, etc. Get your house in tip top shape before buyers even enter your home. And remember to provide sanitizing cleaners for surfaces and hands for buyers as they tour your home.

If preparing your home to sell seems like a daunting task, enlist the help of a Certified Home Stager to get your home photo-ready. Through a Virtual Home Staging Consultation you will be provided with a specific list of tips and suggested home improvements that will help your home show off in photos.

Virtual tours can be provided by Real Estate agents that will allow buyers to tour a home without having to step foot in a home.

Scheduled showings allow buyers to tour your home with the appropriate safety measures in place. Homes will be sanitized before and after a showing, buyers and agents can keep a safe distance and all parties can wear masks to protect one another.

Focus on these steps and you you will be well on your way to putting your house on the market. And for more tips on selling your home during these strange times check out this article by Shirley Martin from Tidy Life Today.
